Imagine someone has a god-like famousness already as alive, considering todays world with todays tv/internet/etc., ..wonder who ownes her music? Sony?.. o..sorr for the poor English, but guess I understand somewhat..

This is not to say people can’t be proud of their identity and the accomplishments others have made in the past. But it does boggle the mind how whites in America have a deplorable lack of cultural competency/sensitivity. Take Arizona Republican Cecil Ash, who feels that there should be a “White Americans Day,” even as his state banns all ethnic studies and outlaws Chichano studies books from schools.

Newscasters were quick to declare that we were in a post-racial America after Obama was elected: what then of Troy Davis? Racial profiling in East Haven, CT (and elsewhere)? NYPD spying on Muslim-Americans? Lowe’s refusal to advertise with TLC’s All-American Muslim? The brutal murder of James Craig Anderson last year by a car full of white teenagers?

That racism exists is true and terrible enough. But progress only happens when we are cognizant of it’s existence and ready to confront it.

“Look at what immigrants have done to cities like LA!”

“We have to keep Springfield the way it is!”

The obvious bigotry is pretty disgusting, but the applause of various audience members was the most disheartening.

I can’t imagine how any people of color in the audience must have felt after that.
